The original 25-year charter was extended and the name changed to the Commissioners of Public Works of the City of Greenwood.  During its 125 year history, CPW has had 35 Commissioners serve and 9 Superintendent/General Managers.

Greer CPW began natural gas operations in the 1950s with seven district regulators and one city gate. Today, we have two main gates, 110 distribution regulator stations and more than 780 miles of natural gas pipeline that deliver natural gas to 27,800 customers in the City of Greer and surrounding areas.

The mission of Kings Mountain's Energy Department is to provide safe and reliable services for our customers at the lowest cost possible; maintain and operate facilities that assure safe, dependable electricity, natural gas, and fiber optics, giving due diligence to all conservation and environmental impacts; to plan for the future to assure adequate resources with progressive but sound economic reasoning.

Since 1954 Lancaster County Natural Gas Authority (LCNGA) has provided natural gas service, whenever feasible, to the residences, commercial businesses, and industries within Lancaster County, South Carolina.

Since 1957, the City of Monroe Energy Services Department has provided residents in and around the City with natural gas services from small space heaters to industrial loads of 1000’s of Dt’s (dekatherms) per day.
